COMMANDS

Ctrl + A = Highlight All

Ctrl + C = Copy

Ctrl + V = Paste

Ctrl + Z = Undo

Ctrl + Y = Redo

Alt + Tab = Cycle through Windows

Ctrl + Tab = Cycle through tabs in your browser

Windows Button + Tab = Cycle through Windows in a different way.

Last but not least, use Ctrl + F to find whatever word you are looking for.  Take for instance if I am trying to research Michael Jordan.  I go to wikipedia.org and type in Michael Jordan.  Easy.  What about if I want to find out how many points he scored in his career?  It would take me forever and a day to scroll down the entire page, and I still might not find it.  Hold down Ctrl and press the F key, type in points, and BAM!  First result will give you his points.

Try it out here!

Web 2.0 tools - vocab and quizzes:

  • http://www.wordsift.com/ - the name says it all: paste a paragraph into the text box on teh website, hit "Sift" and you receive a visual vocabulary image from the paragraph. This will include difficult vocabulary as well as high-frequency words, and you can click on each individual word to receive images and dictionary definition.

  • http://www.istockphoto.com/ - find images *some must be purchased to avoid copyright infringement, but you can search for quality images to use in presentations etc.
  • https://twitter.com/ - many of us avoid social media at all costs, but there are *many benefits to using Twitter and a SAFE way to do it.
  • https://www.smore.com/ - online flyer creation. Use it to create a class newsletter or welcome, communicate with students, or create flyers/invitations for clubs, meetings, cover page for a report or project, etc.
